Claims4
A vaccine comprising 0.1 mg/ml to 5 mg/ml of whole, killed Brucella abortus 45/20 cells together with a mono- or diester of trehalose as an adjuvant wherein the esterifying moiety is a mycolic acid containing from 30 to 90 carbon atoms in an immunologically acceptable carrier, the weight ratio of cells to adjuvant being from 1:1 to 20:1.
A method of immunizing cattle against Brucella abortus infection which comprises administering to cattle to be immunized an immunologically effective dose of a vaccine comprising 0.1 mg/ml to 5 mg/ml of whole killed Brucella abortus 45/20 cells together with a mono- or diester of trehalose as an adjuvant wherein the esterifying moiety is a mycolic acid containing from 30 to 90 carbon atoms in an immunologically acceptable carrier, the weight ratio of cells to adjuvant being from 1:1 to 20:1.
