Thermosetting resin compositions comprising bismaleimides and alkenylaniline derivatives

A thermosetting resin composition comprising:

• (a) at least one maleimide selected from the group consisting of bismaleimides having the formula ##STR18## where R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 are hydrogen atoms, halogen atoms, straight-chain or branched alkyl radicals of from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, phenyl radicals, or substituted phenyl radicals having one or more substituents selected from straight-chain or branched alkyl radicals of from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, halogen atoms, R.sub.13 O-- groups in which R.sub.13 is an aliphatic radical of from 1 to 5 carbon atoms and, if there are two or more radicals represented by R.sub.13, they may be identical to or different from each other, ##STR19## groups in which R.sub.13 is as previously defined, hydroxyl groups, and cyano groups, and the radicals represented by R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 may be identical to or different from each other, and Z is a divalent organic radical of at least 2 carbon atoms and polymaleimides having the formula ##STR20## where R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R.sub.8, R.sub.9, and R.sub.10 are hydrogen atoms, halogen atoms, straight-chain or branched alkyl radicals of from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, phenyl radicals, or substituted phenyl radicals having one or more substituents selected from halogen atoms, straight-chain or branched alkyl radicals of from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R.sub.13 O-- groups in which R.sub.13 is as previously defined, ##STR21## groups in which R.sub.13 is as previously defined, hydroxyl groups, and cyano groups, and the radicals represented by R.sub.5, R.sub.6, R.sub.7, R.sub.8, R.sub.9, and R.sub.10 may be identical to or different from each other, and n is zero or a positive number;
• and
• (b) at least one member selected from the group consisting of alkenylaniline derivatives having the formula ##STR22## where R.sub.11 and R.sub.12 are hydrogen atoms, halogen atoms, straight-chain or branched alkyl radicals of from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, phenyl radicals, or substituted phenyl radicals having one or more substituents selected from halogen atoms, straight-chain or branched alkyl radicals of from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, R.sub.13 O-- groups in which R.sub.13 is as previously defined, and cyano groups, and the radicals represented by R.sub.11 and R.sub.12 may be identical to or different from each other, X is a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, carboxyl group, ##STR23## group in which R.sub.13 is as previously defined, R.sub.13 O-- group in which R.sub.13 is as previously defined, or cyano group, Y is an amino group, maleimido glycidylamino group, diglycidylamino group, ##STR24## group in which R.sub.15 and R.sub.16 are hydrogen atoms, halogen atoms, or straight-chain or branched alkyl radicals of from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and the radicals represented by R.sub.15 and R.sub.16 may be identical to or different from each other, ##STR25## group in which R.sub.15 and R.sub.16 are as previously defined, ##STR26## group in which R.sub.15 and R.sub.16 are as previously defined, ##STR27## group in which R.sub.14 is an aliphatic radical of from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkylamino group of from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or a dialkylamino group in which each alkyl radical has from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and m.sub.1, m.sub.2, and m.sub.3 are positive integers and the sum of m.sub.1 +m.sub.2 +m.sub.3 has a value of 5, linear dimers thereof, and polymers thereof.
