Abstract
A magnetic thin film deposited on a non-magnetic substrate consists substantially of Ni, Co and oxygen, the content of Ni being between 10 and 55% by weight based on the weight of Ni and Co, the atomic percent ratio of oxygen to Ni and Co being between 3 and 45%.
Claims3
A metallic thin film recording medium comprising a magnetic thin film deposited from the vapor phase in an oxygen atmosphere on a non-magnetic substrate, said thin film consisting essentially of nickel, cobalt and oxygen;
- the content of nickel being between 10 and 55 percent by weight based on the weight of nickel and cobalt;
- and
- the ratio of the oxygen atoms to the sum of the nickel and cobalt atoms in atomic percent being between 3 and 45 percent.
