Abstract
Aliphatic alcohols, esters of such alcohols and aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, mixtures of such alcohols and esters and mixtures of such alcohols and esters with aliphatic carboxylic acids are used as additives in the vulcanization of rubbers.
Claims3
An additive for natural and synthetic olefinic rubbers which is a stearic acid substitute and contains a mixture of (1) a substantial amount of an aliphatic alcohol which contains 12 to 28 carbon atoms, and (2) a substantial amount of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid which contains 4 to 54 carbon atoms, which additive is not volatile at 200.degree. F. and has an acid number of at least 50.
An additive for natural and synthetic olefinic rubbers which is a stearic acid substitute and contains a mixture of (1) a substantial amount of an aliphatic alcohol which contains 12 to 28 carbon atoms, and (2) a substantial amount of an ester to said alcohol and an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid of 4 to 54 carbon atoms, which additive is not volatile at 200.degree. F. and has an acid number or saponification value of at least 50.
