A high molecular weight capsular polysaccharide from H. influenza type b is an effective immunogenic agent against infection caused by the H. influenza type b bacterium.
Claims2
A meningitis vaccine comprising a physiologically acceptable medium containing in a single dosage 10 .mu.g to 100 .mu.g of an antigenic and immunogenic capsular polysaccharide from H. influenza type b consisting of about equal parts of ribose, ribitol and phosphate, substantially all of the polysaccharide having a molecular weight of at least about 5,000,000, and about half of the polysaccharide having a molecular weight of at least about 10,000,000.
