Abstract
A corrosion-inhibited alcohol motor fuel composition comprising a major proportion of a lower aliphatic alcohol and a corrosion-inhibiting amount of a trimeric acid is provided.
Claims9
A motor fuel composition comprising a major proportion of ethyl alcohol, from about 5 to 9 percent water and from about 0.0005 to 0.1 weight percent of an additive comprising at least 80 percent of a trimeric acid produced by the condensation of an unsaturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid or a hydroxy aliphatic monocarboxylic acid having between about 16 and about 18 carbon atoms per molecule.
A motor fuel composition comprising a major proportion of a lower aliphatic alcohol having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, from about 0.2 to 10 percent water and from about 0.0005 to 0.1 weight percent of an additive comprising at least 80 percent of a trimeric acid produced by the condensation of an unsaturated aliphatic monocarboxylic acid or a hydroxy aliphatic monocarboxylic acid having between about 16 and 18 carbon atoms per molecule.
