Abstract
Esters and amides of all-trans-retinoic acid are disclosed which are useful for the treatment of acne.

A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of acne by topical application which comprises an effective acne-treatment amount of benzyl all-trans-retinoate admixed with a pharmaceutically acceptable topical vehicle which is a mixture selected from the group consisting of propylene glycol-ethanol and propylene glycol-ethanol-chloroform.
A method for treatment of acne in a subject requiring such treatment which comprises topical application to the acne site of said subject of a composition comprising an effective acne-treatment amount of benzyl all-trans-retinoate admixed with a pharmaceutically-acceptable topical vehicle.
