Abstract
Condensation products of phenyltrialkoxysilanes (and optionally methyltrialkoxysilanes) and 2-methyl-2,4-pentane diol containing at least 25 percent by weight phenyl radicals are employed as internal lubricants for clear thermoplastics. For example, 1 percent by weight of ##STR1## is added to polystyrene to give an optically clear material having good surface properties.
Claims7
A clear thermoplastic selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polyacrylates, polyethylene terephthalate and polybutylene terephthalate containing from 0.1 to 20 percent by weight based on the weight of the thermoplastic of a siloxane containing at least 25 percent by weight phenyl radicals and having an average composition ##EQU2## in which m is 0 to 0.5 and n is 0.4 to 1.
