Abstract
Thiocarbamyl derivatives, including thioureas and thiocarbamic esters derived from the reaction of an alkenyl isothiocyanate with an amine and alcohol or thio, respectively, have utility as an additive for hydrocarbons, particularly fuels and mineral lubricating oils whereby enhanced anticorrosion, oxidation inhibition and/or dispersancy activity is imparted to said hydrocarbons.
Claims2
A composition comprising a lubricating oil containing 0.01 to 20 weight percent of a thiocarbamyl derivative of an allylicly unsaturated polyisobutenyl isothiocyanate, the polyisobutenyl having a number average molecular weight of 1,200 to 5,000, said derivative being formed by reaction of said polyisobutenyl isothiocyanate with an alkylene polyamine having 2 to 60 carbon atoms.
