Abstract
This invention relates to the manufacture of polyhydric alcohol(s) by the reaction of synthesis gas in the presence of a rhodium carbonyl complex dissolved in a cyclic urea solvent.
Claims10
A process for producing polyhydric alcohol(s) which comprises reacting hydrogen and oxides of carbon in a solvent comprising a cyclic urea in the presence of a rhodium carbonyl complex at a temperature of between about 100.degree. C. and 375.degree. C. correlated with a pressure of between about 500 psia and 50,000 psia sufficient to produce said polyhydric alcohol(s).
