Abstract
2-(4-Aminopiperidino)pyrazines are useful as analgesic and antidepressant agents. They are prepared by reductive amination of the corresponding 2-(4-oxopiperidino)pyrazines.
Claims9
A compound of structural formula:
- ##STR9## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-3 alkyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-3 alkyl, or ##STR10## and R.sup.3 is halo, trifluoromethyl, C.sub.1-3 alkyl, C.sub.1-3 alkoxy, C.sub.1-3 alkylthio, phenoxy, phenylthio, di(C.sub.1-3 alkyl)amino or phenyl.
An analgesic, antidepressant, pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutical carrier and an analgesic, antidepressant effective amount of a compound of structural formula:
- ##STR12## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-3 alkyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-3 alkyl, or ##STR13## and R.sup.3 is halo, trifluoromethyl, C.sub.1-3 alkyl, C.sub.1-3 alkoxy, C.sub.1-3 alkylthio, phenoxy, phenylthio, di(C.sub.1-3 alkyl)amino or phenyl.
A method of treating pain or depression which comprises the administration to a patient in need of such treatment an analgesic, antidepressant effective amount of a compound of structural formula:
- ##STR15## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-3 alkyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-3 alkyl, or ##STR16## and R.sup.3 is halo, trifluoromethyl, C.sub.1-3 alkyl, C.sub.1-3 alkoxy, C.sub.1-3 alkylthio, phenoxy, phenylthio, di(C.sub.1-3 alkyl)amino or phenyl.
