Abstract
Mercaptothiadiazole is reacted with hydroxyl-containing unsaturated esters, or their borated derivatives, to yield a product that is useful as a friction reducing additive in lubricants.
Claims26
A product of reaction obtained by reacting at a temperature of from about 140.degree. C. to about 200.degree. C. a hydroxyl-containing unsaturated ester or a borated derivative thereof with a mercaptothiadiazole.
A lubricant composition containing a major amount of a lubricant selected from the group consisting of oils of lubricating viscosity and greases thereof and a friction reducing amount of a product of reaction obtained by reacting a hydroxyl-containing unsaturated ester or a borated derivation thereof with a mercaptothiadiazole said reaction obtained at a temperature of from about 140.degree. C. to about 200.degree. C.
