Abstract
A method and apparatus for decurling a web of material such as paper wherein the web is caused to pass over elongated members positioned in the plane of the web and at an acute angle to the direction of advancement to bend the web both lengthwise and crosswise simultaneously.
Claims11
Apparatus for decurling a continuously advancing web of material having a longitudinal axis extending in the direction of travel, comprising:
- first and second decurling apparatus each comprising elongated members spaced in close proximity to each other to bend the web passing therebetween at a sharp angle and impart a decurling effect on the material;
- and
- means positioning said first and second decurling apparatus in the plane of the web and at a right angle to each other and at a 45.degree. angle to the longitudinal axis of the web such that each apparatus bends the web both crosswise and lengthwise relative to the longitudinal axis to correct curl therein.
Apparatus for decurling a continuously advancing web of material having a longitudinal axis extending in the direction of travel, comprising:
- a decurling apparatus comprising elongated members positioned in close proximity to each other to bend the web passing therebetween at a sharp angle to impart a decurling effect on the material;
- and
- means positioning said decurling apparatus in the plane of said web with the elongated members extending at opposite acute angles to the longitudinal axis of the web thereby to bend the web both crosswise and lengthwise to correct curl therein.
