Abstract
Prostaglandin analogs are disclosed that have the .alpha.-chain terminating with the group --CH(OR')OR" wherein R' and R" are the same or different and are hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkanoyl or optionally substituted benzoyl, the substituents selected from the group C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkoxy, halo and trifluoromethyl. These compounds are useful as hypotensive agents, gastric secretory and platelet aggregation inhibitors and bronchodilators.

Compounds of the formula:
- ##STR38## n is the integer 3-5 inclusive;
- wherein M is the divalent moiety selected from the group ##STR39## X is --CH.dbd.CH--(trans) and --CH.dbd.CH--(cis);
- R' and R" are the same or different and are hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkanoyl or optionally substituted benzoyl, the substituents selected from the group C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkoxy, halo and trifluoromethyl;
- C.sub.13 -C.sub.14 is selected from the group --CH.dbd.CH--(trans) and --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --;
- and R.sub.2 is selected from the group ##STR40## wherein R.sub.4 is hydrogen or methyl;
- R.sub.5 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.4 -C.sub.7 alkyl;
- R.sub.6 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 alkyl;
- R.sub.7 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkyl;
- R.sub.8 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl;
- R.sub.11 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 alkyl;
- A is a divalent radical selected from --CH.sub.2 -- and --O--;
- p is an integer from o to 3;
- q is the integer 1 or 2;
- t is selected from the consisting of hydrogen, chloro, fluoro, dichloro, trifluoromethyl and methoxy;
- and n is the integer 3, 4 or 5.
