Insecticidal phenoxy hydroxamates

Insecticidal hydroxamates having the formula:

• ##STR21## wherein R.sup.1 may represent I, II, III, or IV:
• ##STR22## wherein Ar is phenyl;
• phenyl substituted in the 2-to-6 position with 1-5 halogen (Cl, Br, F, I), C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, amino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylamino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 dialkylamino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, methylenedioxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylthio, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, difluoromethoxy, trifluorothiomethyl, difluorothiomethyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylthioalkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkynyl, cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 cyanoalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 carboalkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylsulfonyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxyalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 haloalkenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 acyl, indanyl or naphthalyl;
• Z is C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 cycloalkyl, alkylcycloalkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkenyl;
• Y is F, Cl, or Br;
• and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are the same or different H, alkyl, CN, CHO, C.tbd.CH, CH.sub.2 C.tbd.CH CH.sub.2 CH.tbd.CH.sub.2 , CH.sub.2 O-alkyl, CH.sub.2 S-alkyl, or S-alkyl;
• alkyl being C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 ;
• and II saturated on the vinyl group with Br.
