Abstract
Agents containing Salinomycin for oral administration to domestic animals which do not digest cellulose in the rumen, particularly pigs, are disclosed, for instance for the prophylaxis or treatment of disease and/or for improvement of growth.

The method for the therapeutic treatment of swine dysentery caused by Treponema hyodysenteriae in pigs which comprises orally administering thereto an effective amount of an active agent selected from the group consisting of Salinomycin, physiologically acceptable salts thereof, and physiologically acceptable esters thereof.
