Abstract
There is disclosed a novel apparatus for the selective stretching of a coated or impregnated substrate of a synthetic thermoplastic polymer or blends thereof to form an impregnated microporous film thereof.

An opaque low density porous sheet comprised of a chemically-impregnated biaxially stretched film of synthetic material comprised of a blend of a thermoplastic orientable polymer and an incompatible second phase selected from the group consisting of an incompatible polymer of inorganic material or a polymer matrix having an inorganic filler.
