Abstract
Prostaglandin analogs are disclosed that have the .alpha.-chain terminating with the group --CH(OR')OR" wherein R' and R" are the same or different and are hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkanoyl or optionally substituted benzoyl, the substituents selected from the group C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkoxy, halo and trifluoromethyl. These compounds are useful as hypotensive agents, gastric secretory and platelet aggregation enhibitors and bronchodilators.

Compounds of the formula:
- ##STR37## n is the integer 3-5 inclusive;wherein M is the divalent moiety selected from the group ##STR38## X is selected from the group --CH.dbd.CH--(trans) and --CH.dbd.CH--(cis);
- R' and R" are the same or different and are hydrogen, C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkanoyl or optionally substituted benzoyl, the substituents selected from the group C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkoxy, halo and trifluoromethyl;
- C.sub.13 -C.sub.14 is selected from the group --CH.dbd.CH--(trans) and --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --;
- and R.sub.2 is selected from the group ##STR39## wherein R.sub.7 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 alkyl;
- R.sub.8 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl;
- R.sub.9 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 alkyl;
- R.sub.10 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl;
- R .sub.11 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 alkyl;
- R.sub.12 is selected from the group consisting of C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl;
- the racemic mixtures thereof;
- and the mirror images thereof, and the pharmaceutically acceptable, non-toxic salts thereof.
