Abstract
Pharmaceutical compositions containing 1-aryl-5-(2-propenylamino)-1-penten-3-ones and salts thereof having the structure ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, hydroxy, lower alkanoyloxy, nitro, cyano, amino, carboxy or lower alkoxycarbonyl, and R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are the same or different and are hydrogen or lower alkyl. These compositions are useful in treating inflammatory conditions.

The method of treating an inflammatory condition in a mammalian species, which comprises administering to said specie a composition comprising a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of the structure ##STR17## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, hydroxy, nitro or amino, and R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 may be the same or different and are hydrogen or lower alkyl, and physiologically acceptable salts thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier therefor.
