Abstract
In the technique for fiberizing glass by the use of a centrifugal spinner delivering glass streams into an attenuating blast, a novel spinner construction is provided, and provision is also made for increasing the production, while also providing for the use of glass of lower cost, and at the same time, reducing environmental pollution. Glass compositions and spinner alloy compositions particularly suited for use in accordance with the invention, are also disclosed.

Glass fiberizing equipment comprising a hollow spinner having a peripheral wall open at one edge and having mounting means at the other edge, the wall being provided with a plurality of rows of orifices for centrifugal projection of streams of molten glass, characterized in that an annular reinforcement element is integrally connected with the spinner throughout the entire circumference of the open edge of the peripheral wall of the spinner, said element being offset radially inwardly from the open edge of the peripheral wall, and said element having a sectional dimension in a direction axially of the spinner which dimension is greater than the wall thickness of said peripheral wall.
