Abstract
A process for controlling hypertension employing N-(substituted-phenyl)-N'-(1,4,5,6-tetrahydroprimidin-2-yl)ureas, and pharmaceutical compositions containing said ureas is described.
Claims6
A method which comprises administering to a hypertensive animal, a therapeutically-effective antihypertensive amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of (a) an N-(phenyl)-N'-(1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-2-yl)urea having the formula:
- ##STR7## wherein Z is H or F;
- X and Y are each independently selected from the group consisting of Br, Cl, F, CH.sub.3, CF.sub.3 and OCH.sub.3 ;
- and (b) a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof.
A method of reducing arterial pressure in hypertensive subjects which comprises administering to said hypertensive subject from about 1 to 500 milligrams per unit dose of an N-(phenyl)-N'-(1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidin-2-yl)urea compound represented by the formula:
- ##STR8## wherein Z is H;
- X and Y are each independently selected from the group consisting of Br, Cl, CH.sub.3 and CF.sub.3 ;
- and pharmaceutically-acceptable salts thereof.
