Abstract
1-Isocyanato-anthraquinones, which are valuable dyestuff intermediate products, are obtained in good yields when 1-amino-anthraquinones are introduced into phosgene or a solution of phosgene at -10.degree. to 50.degree. C., the reaction mixture is heated to 100.degree. to 200.degree. C. while passing phosgene through it and phosgene and hydrogen chloride are then expelled from the reaction mixture with an inert medium which is gaseous under the reaction conditions.
Claims4
A process for the preparation of a 1-isocyanato-anthraquinone, comprising introducing an anthraquinone into phosgene or a solution of phosgene in an inert anhydrous solvent at -10.degree. to 50.degree. C., heating the reaction mixture to 100.degree. to 200.degree. C. while passing phosgene through it, and subsequently expelling phosgene and hydrogen chloride from the reaction mixture with an inert medium which is gaseous under the reaction conditions.
