Abstract
A process for the hydrogenation of unsaturated hydrocarbons comprising contacting said unsaturated hydrocarbons, with hydrogen, at temperatures ranging from about 40.degree. C. to about 160.degree. C., and pressures ranging from about 100 psi to about 3000 psi, with a catalyst comprising an ion exchange resin and an organic linking compound having at least one resin compatible moiety ionically bound to said resin and further having at least one metal complexible moiety selected from the group consisting of trivalent nitrogen, trivalent phosporous, trivalent arsenic, trivalent bismuth and trivalent antimony complexed to a metal selected from the group consisting of ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium and platinum.
Claims10
A process for hydrogenating unsaturated hydrocarbons which comprises treating said material with hydrogen at hydrogenation conditions in the presence of a catalyst comprising:
- (a) an ion exchange resin;
- (b) a metal selected from the group consisting of ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium and platinum;
- and
- (c) an organic linking compound which has at least one moiety which is ionically bonded to said ion exchange resin and further has at least one moiety which is coordinately bonded to said metal.
