Abstract
A process is disclosed for producing imidazolidone intermediates from 2H-chromene. The intermediates are useful for synthesizing biotin.

A compound of the formula:
- ##STR16## wherein R.sup.4a is azidosulphonyl.
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR17## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a nitrogen protecting group selected from the group consisting of benzyl, alpha-lower alkyl substituted benzyl and allyl.
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR18## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen or a nitrogen protecting group selected from the group consisting of benzyl, alpha-lower alkyl benzyl and allyl.
