A furochromone of formula VI
- wherein R.sub.13 is --CH.sub.2 --S--R.sub.10, --CH.sub.2 --SO--R.sub.10, or --CH.sub.2 --SO.sub.2 --R.sub.10, wherein R.sub.10 is alkyl of one to 5 carbon atoms, inclusive;
