Abstract
Polymers containing amide linkages can be formed in good yields by the dehydrative addition polymerization of alpha, beta-unsaturated monocarboxylic acids or the ammonium salts thereof. These polymers are suitable for use as fibers, plastics, films and molding resins.
Claims39
A process for producing a resinous polymer containing carbonamide linkages wherein the carbonamide nitrogen is an integral part of the polymer backbone comprising polymerizing a composition comprising (1) at least one alpha, beta-unsaturated monocarboxylic acid or ammonium salt thereof and (2) ammonia.
