Fragrant prevulcanization inhibitors

A vulcanizable composition comprising sulfur-vulcanizable rubber, sulfur-vulcanizing agent, organic accelerating agent and, in an amount effect to inhibit premature vulcanization, a compound of the formula:

• ##STR4## in which X is an amide inhibitor moiety, R is alkyl of 1-8 carbon atoms, R' is alkyl of 1-8 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1-8 carbon atoms, --CO.sub.2 --R, or halo, and n is 0, 1 or 2.
