Abstract
A method is disclosed for reducing the oxygen content of water using a hydrazine-free aqueous solution of hydroquinone.

A method for reducing the amount of oxygen in an oxygen-containing aqueous medium of a boiler condensate steam system comprising adding to said aqueous medium as the sole oxygen scavenger an effective amount for the purpose of a hydrazine-free aqueous solution of hydroquinone.
A method for reducing the amount of oxygen in oxygen-containing feedwater to a boiler comprising adding to said feedwater as the sole oxygen scavenger an effective amount for the purpose of a hydrazine-free aqueous solution of hydroquinone.
