Abstract
Aminoglycoside antibiotics biochemically transformed from Kanamycin A or Kanamycin B, which are represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R.sub.2 represents an amino group or a hydroxyl group.

A process for producing aminoglycoside antibiotics represented by the formula ##STR6## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and R.sub.2 represents an amino group or a hydroxyl group, or their pharmacologically acceptable acid addition salts, which comprises cultivating a Gentamicin producing strain of Micromonospora species or a mutant thereof in a medium containing Kanamycin A or Kanamycin B.
