Abstract
Method of providing an analgesic effect by administring compounds having the general formula I ##STR1## in which each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.4 is independently hydrogen or a C.sub.1-4 alkyl, and each of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is independently hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine or a C.sub.1-4 alkyl or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts. The invention provides also compounds of fromula (I) where each of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is independently hydrogen or C.sub.1-4 alkyl.

A compound having the general formula (I) ##STR16## wherein each of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is independently hydrogen or C.sub.1-4 alkyl, or a pharmaceutically acceptable amino acid salt thereof.
2-(3-benzoyl-phenoxy)-propionic acid or its lysine salt.
2-[3-(4-methylbenzoyl)-phenoxy]-propionic acid or its lysine salt.
