Abstract
The invention relates to certain new stilbene derivatives of the general formula ##STR1## in which R, R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 have the below mentioned meaning, to a process for their preparation and to their use as arthropodicides, especially as insecticides and acaricides.

Stilbene compound of the formula ##STR68## wherein R is the radical ##STR69## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, cyano or ethynyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen, halogen or alkyl;
- R.sup.3 is hydrogen, methyl, chlorine or bromine;
- and
- R.sup.4 is methyl, chlorine, bromine or optionally halogen-substituted phenyl,
- or wherein
- R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 together are C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkanediyl.
Stilbene compound of the formula ##STR70## wherein R is the radical ##STR71## wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen, cyano or ethynyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen, halogen or alkyl;
- R.sup.5 is phenyl which is optionally substituted by halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio, C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 -halogenoalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 -halogenoalkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 -halogenoalkylthio or methylenedioxy or
- R.sup.6 is isopropyl or cyclopropyl.
Stilbene compound of the formula ##STR72## wherein R is one of the radicals ##STR73## and in which R.sup.1 is hydrogen, cyano or ethynyl and
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen, halogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 -alkyl.
Stilbene compound designated alpha-isopropyl-4-trifluoromethoxy-phenyl-acetic acid 3-(2-phenylvinyl)-alpha-cyanobenzyl ester.
Silbene compound designated alpha-isopropyl-4-trifluoromethoxy-phenyl-acetic acid 3-(2-phenylvinyl)-benzyl ester.
A method of combating arthropods which comprises applying to the arthropods or their habitat a stilbene compound, in an effective amount, and wherein said compound is selected from
- 2,2-dimethyl-3-dichlorovinylcyclopropanecarboxylic acid 3'-(2-phenylvinyl)-benzyl ester
- 2,2-dimethyl-3-dibromovinyl-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid 3'-(2-phenylvinyl)-benzyl ester
- 2,2-dimethyl-3-dichlorovinyl-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid 3'-(2-phenylvinyl)-alpha-cyano-benzyl-ester
- 2,2-dimethyl-3-dibromovinyl-cyclopropanecarboxylic acid 3'-(2-phenylvinyl)alpha-cyanobenzyl ester, and alpha-isopropyl-4-tricfuoromethoxy-acetic acid 3-(2-phenylvinyl)-alpha-cyanobenzyl ester.
