Abstract
An anti-solar polymer has in the macromolecular chain thereof at least one unit of the formula ##STR1## wherein F is a residue derived from an aromatic compound. The anti-solar polymer can also be one having in the macromolecular chain thereof at least one unit of the formula ##STR2## wherein F.sub.1 is ##STR3## These polymers have the ability to absorb wave lengths of light in the range of about 280-315 millimicrons. The polymers are employed in a cosmetic composition.
Claims11
Anti-solar polymer having in the macromolecular chain from 10-100 percent by weight of units of the formula ##STR21## wherein F is selected from the group consisting of ##STR22## wherein R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and CH.sub.3 and R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of CH.sub.3 and OCH.sub.3 ##STR23## and from 90-0 percent by weight of units derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer,
- said polymer having an average molecular weight between about 2,000-1,000,000.
Anti-solar polymer having in the macromolecular chain thereof at least one unit of the formula ##STR26## wherein F.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of ##STR27## and from 90-0 percent by weight of units derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer,
- said polymer having an average molecular weight between about 2,000-1,000,000.
Anti-solar polymer selected from the group consisting of
- (1) acrylamidomethyl-2-hydroxy-5 methyl benzotriazole/2-N,N-dimethylamino ethyl methacrylate quaternized with dimethyl sulfate,
- (2) acrylamidomethyl-2-phenyl benzimidazole/2-N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate quaternized with dimethyl sulfate,
- (3) acrylamidomethyl-2-hydroxy-5-methyl benzotriazole/stearyl acrylate;
- and
- (4) acrylamidomethyl-2-phenyl benzimidazole/stearyl acrylate.
Anti-solar polymer having in the macromolecular chain thereof from 10-100 percent by weight of units of the formula ##STR31## wherein F is a residue derived from an aromatic compound imparting to the said polymer the ability to absorb wavelengths of light in the range of about 280-315 millimicrons, and from 90-0 percent by weight of units derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer, said polymer having an average molecular weight between about 2,000-1,000,000.
