Abstract
A method for producing analgesia by administering a 3-(4-biphenylylcarbonyl)propionic acid compound together with acetaminophen and compositions therefor.
Claims8
A method for producing analgesia which comprises orally administering to a subject suffering from pain
- (1) as primary antinociceptive agent from about 2.2 to 7.2 mg/kg of body weight of a 3-(4-biphenylylcarbonyl) propionic acid compond, said compound selected from (a) 3-(4-biphenylylcarbonyl) propionic acid represented by the formula ##STR2## and (b) the non-toxic therapeutically acceptable salts thereof, and (2) as potentiating agent from about 1.9 to 7.5 mg/kg of body weight of acetaminophen.
A method for producing analgesia which comprises orally administering to a subject suffering from pain
- (1) as primary antinociceptive agent from about 129 to 430 milligrams of a 3-(4-biphenylylcarbonyl)propionic acid or a non-toxic therapeutically acceptable salts thereof, and
- (2) as potentiating agent from about 113 to 450 milligrams of acetaminophen.
A pharmaceutical composition suitable for reducing pain in dosage unit form comprising an effective antinociceptive amount in combination of
- (1) as primary antinociceptive agent, from about 129 to 430 milligrams of a 3-(4-biphenylylcarbonyl) propionic acid compound, said compound being selected from (a) 3-(4-biphenylylcarbonyl) propionic acid represented by the formula ##STR3## and (b) the non-toxic therapeutically acceptable salts thereof, and (2) as potentiating agent, from about 113 to 450 milligrams of acetaminophen;
- wherein said primary and said potentiating agents are in admixture with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
