- (1) as primary active agent from about 1.4 to 2.5 mg/kg of body weight of an .alpha.-methyl-3-phenoxy-benzeneacetic acid compound, said compound being selected from (a) .alpha.-methyl-3-phenoxybenzeneacetic acid represented by the formula ##STR2## and (b) non-toxic therapeutically acceptable salts thereof, and (2) as potentiating agent, from 3.8 to 7.5 mg/kg of body weight of acetaminophen.
A method for producing analgesia which comprises orally administering to a subject suffering from pain
- (1) as primary active agent from about 84 to 168 milligrams of an .alpha.-methyl-3-phenoxybenzeneacetic acid or a non-toxic therapeutically acceptable salt thereof, and
- (2) as potentiating agent from about 225 to 450 milligrams of acetaminophen.
A pharmaceutical composition suitable for reducing pain in dosage unit form comprising an effective antinociceptive amount in combination of
- (1) as primary antinociceptive agent, from about 84 to 168 milligrams of an .alpha.-methyl-3-phenoxybenzeneacetic acid compound, said compound being selected from (a) .alpha.-methyl-3-phenoxybenzeneacetic acid represented by the formula ##STR3## and (b) non-toxic therapeutically acceptable salts thereof, and (2) as potentiating agent, from about 113 to 450 milligrams of acetaminophen;
- wherein said primary and said potentiating agents are in admixture with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
