Two spreading mechanisms disposed across a rear outlet of a container-hopper having a movable deck, the spreader comprising a pair of two-part distribution members which rotate about vertical shafts, the upper part having four sets of resilient tines extending from angle irons spaced outwardly from the rotary shaft, the tines being bent at their ends and connected to the angle irons via coils whereby they are resiliently forced backward in their rotation through the fertilizer, usually manure, and when released resiliently spring forward whereby material engaged by the tines is flung outwardly. On the same shaft the lower part is a disc type ejector extending partly under the moving deck to receive fertilizer which the tines miss. A guide member surrounds the shaft between the ejector and the tined portion to preclude material from winding around the shaft. A plate closure for the hopper outlet is raised vertically by two pairs of arms, one pair pivotally connected on each side of the hopper whereby the closure is lifted first vertically and then pivoted at its upper part somewhat forwardly whereby its lower edge which penetrates the fertilizer moves in a substantially vertical motion just ahead of the distribution members. The spreaders are rotated and the underlying deck moved by a tractor power take-off. The closure is frictionally connected to piston and cylinder assembly on each side of the hopper and can be adjusted to various opened or closed positions.
A spreader comprising a hopper for containing material to be spread and having a delivery outlet and at least one rotary distribution member arranged adjacent said delivery outlet and adapted to rotate about a substantially vertical axis at least in part in said outlet, said distribution member comprising a carrier and resilient working members mounted thereon, and carrier extending in at least generally the same direction as the axis of rotation of said distribution member and being spaced from said axis, a plurality of said working members being provided, and working members being disposed in pairs and each said pair being formed from a single curved length of spring steel rod, a helical-wound spring portion of each said rod being formed between the two integral working members of said pair of working members, said helically-wound spring portion being spaced from said carrier.
A spreader comprising a hopper for containing material to be spread and having a delivery outlet and at least one rotary distribution member arranged adjacent said delivery outlet and adapted to rotate at least in part in said outlet, said distribution member comprising a carrier and resilient working members mounted thereon, said carrier extending at least generally in the same direction as the axis of rotation of the said distribution member and being spaced from said axis, said axis being upwardly extending and said working member being fastened to said carrier at a location spaced from said rotary axis of said distribution member by a distance approximately equal to one-third of the length of said working member, a plurality of said carriers being provided, each of said carriers extending substantially parallel to said rotary axis of said distribution member, each said carrier comprising an angle-section member which opens toward said rotary axis of said distribution member, each limb of each said angle-section member being disposed at about a 45.degree. angle to a plane intercepting said angle-section member and said rotary axis, the portion of each said working member located near said rotary axis of said distribution member being connected with said carrier by means of a helically wound spring portion releaseably mounted on a linb of said angle-section member of said carrier member, each said helically wound spring portion of each said working member being located adjacent to and spaced from the other limb of a said carrier relative to that to which such working member is mounted.
A spreader comprising a hopper for containing material to be spread and having a delivery outlet, and at least one rotary distribution member arranged adjacent said delivery outlet and at least substantially at a higher level than the bottom of said hopper, there being further provided adjacent said delivery outlet at least one rotary ejection member disposed at a level lower than the bottom of said hopper at a location adapted to receive material from said hopper by gravity from the bottom of said delivery outlet, said ejection member being rotatable about an upwardly extending axis, a guide member extending around said rotary axis of said ejection member which is arranged between said distribution member and said ejection member, said guide being coaxial with said rotary axis of said ejection member and comprising a cylindrical portion, said guide member being provided with a conical upper portion which flares upwardly with the lower part of said conical portion being located substantially level with the upper side of said hopper's bottom, the upper side of said conical portion being located inside a downwardly extending ring which is arranged on said distribution member.
A spreader comprising a hopper for containing material to be spread and having a delivery outlet, and at least one rotary distribution member arranged adjacent said delivery outlet and at least substantially at a higher level than the bottom of said hopper, said distribution member being rotatable about an upwardly extending axis and being provided on its upper end with an upwardly extending ring, a plate connected with a bearing provided for the upper end of said distribution member being arranged inside said ring, there being further provided adjacent said delivery outlet, at least one rotary ejection member disposed at a level lower than the bottom of said hopper at a location adapted to receive material from said hopper by gravity in the bottom of said delivery outlet.
A spreader comprising a hopper for containing material to be spread and having a delivery outlet, and at least one rotary distribution member arranged adjacent said delivery outlet and at least substantially at a higher level than the bottom of said hopper, said distribution being rotatable about an upwardly extending axis and being provided on its upper end with an upwardly extending ring, a plate connected with a bearing provided for the upper end of said distribution member being arranged inside of said ring, said plate having a diameter slightly smaller than the inner diameter of said ring, said distribution member comprising tine carriers and being provided a further ring at its bottom end, said rings on the bottom and upper ends of said distribution member being of substantially the same diameter as each other, this diameter being approximately equal to the diameter of a circle having a circumference on which said tine carriers are arranged about said rotary axis of said distribution member, there being further provided adjacent said delivery outlet, at least one rotary ejection member disposed at a level lower than the bottom of said hopper at a location adapted to receive material from said hopper by gravity from the bottom of said delivery outlet.
