Abstract
The specification describes the use of S or RS 9-(2, 3-dihydroxypropyl) adenine either alone or in combination with ara-A for the treatment of virus diseases.

A method for the treatment of viral diseases which comprises administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of (S)-9-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)adenine and (RS)-9-(2,3-dihydroxypropyl)adenine to a patient suffering from a viral disease.
