A front end loader which includes a refuse storage body mounted on a supporting vehicle with the storage body having an upper opening for the deposit of refuse within the body. Means are provided on the vehicle for picking up a refuse container and lifting the container to dump refuse therefrom into the storage body through the upper opening. Closure means are positioned adjacent the upper opening. Closure means are positioned adjacent the upper opening with the closure means being movable between an open and a closed position. The closure means are shaped and positioned to shield the opening from the wind when the closure means is in its open position and means are provided to exert a downward packing force on the closure means in moving it from its open to its closed position to exert a positive downward packing force on refuse which is contacted by the closure means.
In combination in a refuse loader,
In combination in a refuse loader,
In combination in a refuse loader,
A front end loader comprising:
In combination in a refuse loader,
In combination in a refuse loader, a refuse storage body, an opening in the top of the refuse body, at least one door pivotable between positions for opening and closing the opening in the top of the storage body, hudraulic means operatively coupled to the door for providing a pivotal movement of the door between the opened and closed position, latching means providing a cooperative relationship between the door and the top of the storage body for latching the door to the storage body upon a pivotal movement of the door to the closed position and for providing for a disengagement of the door from the storage body upon a pivotal movement of the door from the closed position, means operatively coupled to the hydraulic means and the door in a lost-motion arrangement for initially providing for a pivotal movement of the latching means by the hydraulic means, in a plane transverse to the plane of the door, in the closed position of the door for disengaging the latching means to obtain thereafter an opening of the door and for providing for a pivotal movement of the latching means by the hydraulic means, in a plane transverse to the plane of the door, in the closed position of the door to engage the latching means, means operatively coupled to the hydraulic means for imposing a positive force of a first magnitude on the door to provide for the pivotal movement of the door to the closed position, and means operatively coupled to the hydraulic means for imposing a positive force, automatically and without manual intervention, on the door of a second magnitude greater than the first magnitude as the door approches the closed position to insure that the door closes against any force exerted on the door by the refuse.
