Abstract
A process for preparing aromatic esters by oxyacylation which comprises contacting benzene or an aryl alkyl compound with a carboxylic acid and oxygen in the vapor phase in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of a catalyst comprising an oxide of uranium and at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of arsenic, antimony and bismuth oxide.
Claims8
A process for the preparation of esters which comprises reacting benzene or an aryl alkyl compound wherein the alkyl group is about C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 with a C.sub.2 to C.sub.8 carboxylic acid and oxygen in the vapor phase at an elevated temperature in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of a catalyst consisting essentially of an oxide of uranium and at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of arsenic, antimony and bismuth oxides.
