Abstract
Glycolipid compounds of the formulae ##STR1## wherein R is ##STR2## are useful immunologic adjuvants in vaccines.

A compound selected from the group consisting of:
- 6-(5-cholesten-3.beta.-yloxy)hexyl 1-thio-.beta.-L-fucopyranoside;
- 6-(5-cholesten-3.beta.-yloxy)hexyl 1-thio-.beta.-D-glucopyranoside;
- 6-(5-cholesten-3.beta.-yloxy)hexyl 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-1-thio-.beta.-D-glucopyranoside;
- 6-(5-cholesten-3.beta.-yloxy)hexyl 2-acetamido-2-deoxy-1-thio-.beta.-D-galactopyranoside;
- 6-(5-cholesten-3.beta.-yloxy)hexyl 1-thio-.beta.-D-xylopyranoside;
- 6-(5-cholesten-3.beta.-yloxy)hexyl 1-thio-.alpha.-L-arabinopyranoside;
- 6-(5-cholesten-3.beta.-yloxy)hexyl 1-thio-.beta.-lactoside, and
- 2-S-[6-(5-cholesten-3.beta.-yloxy)hexyl]-2-thio-.beta.-D-N-acetylneuraminic acid.
