Abstract
This invention relates to stable, fluid magnesium-containing dispersions and the preparations thereof by the high temperature dehydration of Mg(OH).sub.2 to MgO in a dispersant-containing fluid.
Claims20
A process of preparing a stable, fluid magnesium oxidecontaining dispersion which consists essentially of heating a composition comprising a non-volatile process fluid containing Mg(OH).sub.2 and a dispersant to the dehydration temperature of Mg(OH).sub.2 until all the water has been removed, said non-volatile process fluid being capable of being heated to the dehydration temperature of Mg(OH).sub.2, and said dispersant being capable of retaining the magnesium compound formed by dehydration in stable suspension.
