Abstract
Method of treating glass fibers which comprises treating glass fibers with an aqueous solution of zinc salt, lead salt, tin salt or mixture thereof, thereby forming a protective coating having high chemical resistance on the surface of the glass fibers.

A method of imparting chemical resistance to glass fibers which comprises the steps of treating glass fibers with a substantially aqueous solution of 2-25% by weight of a metal salt selected from the group consisting of zinc salt, lead salt, tin salt or mixtures thereof, to form a protective coating having high chemical resistance on the surface of the glass fibers, then washing the treated glass fibers with water and thereafter drying the washed glass fibers at a temperature of from 80 deg. C. to 200 deg. C.
