Abstract
A process is used to dehydrogenate organic compounds to a higher degree of unsaturation by contacting in a first step, the organic compound with a calcined zinc titanate catalyst modified with lithium or magnesium. In the second step, the catalyst is contacted with oxygen essentially in the absence of the dehydrogenatable organic compound. The first and second steps are repeated sequentially.
Claims7
A catalyst composition consisting essentially of zinc, titanium, a metal selected from the group consisting of lithium and magnesium, and sufficient oxygen to satisfy the valence requirements of said zinc, said titanium and said lithium or magnesium prepared by intimately mixing zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, and a compound of said metal and thereafter calcining the resulting mixture in air at a temperature in the range of 650.degree. to 1050.degree. C.
