Abstract
Disclosed are 3-methyl-5-isothiazolyl-3-alkoxyureas, such as 1-(3-methyl-5-isothiazolyl)-3-methoxy-3-methylurea, and the method of controlling broadleaf and grassy weeds, such as Echinochloa crusgalli (L.) Beauv. (barnyardgrass), with these ureas.
Claims6
A method of controlling broadleaf and grassy weeds which comprises contacting the weed with a compound in an amount effective to control the weed, said compound being a urea selected from the group consisting of:
- 1-(3-methyl-5-isothiazolyl)-3-methoxy-3-methylurea, 1-(3-methyl-5-isothiazolyl)-3-ethoxy-3-methylurea, 1-(3-methyl-5-isothiazolyl)-1-methyl-3-methoxy-3-methylurea, 1-(3-methyl-5-isothiazolyl)-1-methyl-3-ethoxy-3-methylurea or mixtures thereof.
