Abstract
This invention relates to a novel method for treating hypertension, which comprises administering a compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein Z is C.dbd.C, O, S or NH; R is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, hydroxy, methoxy, ethoxy, chlorine, bromine, fluorine, iodine or trifluoromethyl; and n is 1, 2, or 3.

A method of treating hypertension in a patient in need thereof which comprises administering to said patient an effective amount of an .alpha.,.alpha.'-dithiobis(.beta.-arylacrylic acid of the following formula:
- ##STR6## wherein Z is C.dbd.C, O, S or NH;
- R is H, CH.sub.3, C.sub.2 H.sub.5, OH, CH.sub.3 O, C.sub.2 H.sub.5 O, Cl, Br, F, I or CF.sub.3 ;
- and n is 1, 2 or 3;
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic salt thereof.
