Abstract
Described are derivatives of 2-oxabicyclo[2.2.2]octanes and precursors therefor, cyclohexenemethanols as well as organometallic salts of said cyclohexenemethanols. The oxabicyclooctanes are useful in augmenting or enhancing the aroma of fabric softener compositions and fabric softener articles.
Claims9
A process for augmenting or enhancing the aroma of a perfumed article selected from the group consisting of fabric softeners and optical brightener compositions comprising the step of adding to said fabric softener composition or optical brightener composition an aroma augmenting or enhancing quantity of a cyclic chemical compound having the structure:
- ##STR26## wherein R.sub.2 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkyl or alkenyl;
- R.sub.4 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, R.sub.7 is hydrogen or methyl;
- and R.sub.8 is hydrogen or methyl with the proviso that (i) when R.sub.4 and R.sub.8 are both hydrogen, R.sub.7 is methyl;
- and (ii) when R.sub.4 is methyl or ethyl, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are not both hydrogen.
A fabric softener article comprising a non-woven cloth substrate having a substrate coating and in intimate contact with said substrate coating, an aroma augmenting or enhancing quantity of a cyclic chemical compound having the structure:
- ##STR27## wherein R.sub.2 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkyl or alkenyl;
- R.sub.4 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, R.sub.7 is hydrogen or methyl;
- and R.sub.8 is hydrogen or methyl with the proviso that (i) when R.sub.4 and R.sub.8 are both hydrogen, R.sub.7 is methyl;
- and (ii) when R.sub.4 is methyl or ethyl, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are not both hydrogen.
