Abstract
A novel process for the preparation of polyene aldehydes which employs as starting materials, substituted 2H pyrans. Novel substituted 2H pyrans and polyene intermediates are also disclosed.
Claims5
A process for preparing a compound of the formula:
- ##STR21## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.8 each are hydrogen or methyl, R.sub.9 is ##STR22## and m and n are 0 or 1;
- said process comprising treating a compound of the formula:
- ##STR23## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.8 and R.sub.9 are as above and R.sub.4 is lower alkyl;
- with an amine hydrohalide in an aprotic solvent.
