Copper thiobis(alkylphenols) and antioxidant compositions thereof

A composition comprising a major proportion of an organic medium normally susceptible to oxidative degradation and a minor amount sufficient to impart antioxidant properties thereto of a copper organo-sulfur-containing complex wherein said copper organo-sulfur-containing complex has the following general structures:

• ##STR2## or mixtures thereof in which R is 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl or a 4-t-octyl group and R' is either hydrogen or an alkyl group having from 1-8 carbon atoms in any isomeric arrangement except that the carbon atom bonded (or attached) to the ring carbon atom is attached to no more than two other carbon atoms.
