Abstract
A bumper bar is projected by hydraulic actuators, which communicate with a chamber, which is separate from the actuators and contains hydraulic liquid. The chamber is integrated in the bumper bar or in the support structure of the motor vehicle.
Claims12
In a device having a bumper bar for motor vehicles, which bumper is fastened to the vehicle via at least one hydraulic cylinder, the bumper bar being able to be moved out by application of hydraulic liquid contained in the hydraulic cylinder by means of at least one pressure-applying means and being able to again be pushed back upon impact, the improvement wherein
- at least one chamber filled with the hydraulic liquid is spacially separated from the hydraulic cylinder,
- said chamber is connected with the hydraulic cylinder,
- a floating piston displaceably disposed in said chamber,
- said pressure-applying means via said floating piston for acting on the liquid which is located in the chamber such that the liquid is pressed at least partially from said chamber into the hydraulic cylinder for moving the bumper bar out.
