Abstract
Lubricant compositions containing, in an amount sufficient to inhibit metal corrosion, the reaction product of oleic acid and 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole.
Claims8
A lubricant composition comprising:
- a major proportion of a lubricating medium selected from the group consisting of oils of lubricating viscosity and greases thereof;
- and, in an amount sufficient to inhibit metal corrosion, a compound having the formula:
- ##STR4##
A process which comprises reacting oleic acid and 2,5-dimercapto--1,3,4-thiadiazole at a temperature from about 150.degree. C. to about 200.degree. C. and in a mole ratio of 1:1.
