Abstract
Novel esters of cyclohexene are disclosed having the formula ##STR1## in which R represents hydrogen or a hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 6 carbon atoms. These novel esters display a wide range of interesting odoriferous properties. A process for the preparation of said esters is also disclosed.

The compound 1,5,5-trimethyl-4-(1-formyloxy-ethyl)-cyclohex-1-ene.
The compound 1,5,5-trimethyl-4-(1-acetoxy-ethyl)-cyclohex-1-ene.
Perfume compositions containing a compound selected from the group consisting of 1,5,5-trimethyl-4-(1-formyloxy-ethyl)-cyclohex-1-ene and 1,5,5-trimethyl-4-(1-acetoxy-ethyl)-cyclohex-1-ene, said compound being present in effective amounts up to about 25%, by weight, of said perfume compositions, with additional perfume components.
